Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we get asked most often before booking.
Next-day P300 EEG testing is £499. Same-day testing (booked before noon) is £599. Both prices include the examiner travelling to you, the full session, expert analysis at our head office, and a written PDF report emailed back the same day. There are no hidden fees.
Enquiries placed through this form are typically answered within 2 hours during business hours, and within 30 minutes if marked as Emergency. For the fastest response, call us directly on 0161 524 5513 — phones are answered 24/7 for urgent cases.
The whole of mainland UK — England, Scotland and Wales — plus Northern Ireland. Our examiners are fully mobile and travel to you. Travel is included in the standard price. We also serve Ireland, Switzerland, the UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada by arrangement — contact us for an international quote.
A polygraph measures physical stress — sweat, heart rate, breathing — which is why nerves can throw the result off and trained subjects can beat it through controlled breathing. P300 EEG measures an involuntary brainwave that fires when the brain recognises specific information. It can't be controlled or faked. Accuracy is around 95% vs 65–75% for polygraph. See our full comparison page for more detail.
Yes — most of our bookings come from someone arranging a test for a partner, family member or employee. The person being tested must consent on the day before we begin. We'll never test anyone who hasn't agreed in person. The booking, payment and communication can all be handled by whoever is arranging it.
We only test consenting adults. If the subject refuses on arrival, we cancel the session — no test, no report. Our cancellation policy in that scenario depends on how much notice was given; please call us beforehand if there's any doubt about consent and we'll advise on the best approach.
In the UK, lie detector evidence is not automatically admissible in criminal court but is regularly used to support cases in family court, civil proceedings, HR investigations, and as supporting evidence presented to solicitors and mediators. Our reports are written to a professional standard suitable for legal use. We recommend discussing with your solicitor how the result will be presented.
We test from age 16 with full consent from both the young person and a parent or legal guardian present throughout. We do not test children under 16. Please contact us first to discuss the case before booking — we'll make sure the situation is appropriate and the testing environment is suitable.
Yes. We work with businesses on theft investigations, fraud cases, breach of confidentiality and internal disputes. Employee testing must always be voluntary and documented correctly under UK employment law. For multi-person screening or ongoing work, contact us directly and we'll quote per case.
No. The test requires a physical EEG headset and a controlled, quiet environment, so an examiner must be present in person. We come to you anywhere in the UK at no extra travel cost, so remote testing isn't generally needed.
Yes — we test 7 days a week and can accommodate evenings where the examiner's schedule allows. Weekend and after-hours testing carries no extra charge for next-day bookings. If you need a specific time slot, mention it in your message and we'll work around it.
Payment is taken in full at the time of booking via secure card payment through Stripe. We don't take partial deposits — this keeps the booking process simple and locks your appointment slot in. We accept all major debit and credit cards.
Cancellations more than 48 hours before the appointment receive a full refund. Within 48 hours, a 50% rescheduling fee applies as the examiner's day is committed. Same-day cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable. To cancel or reschedule, just call or email us as early as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Each person needs their own session as the EEG is one-to-one. However, we can run multiple sessions back-to-back at the same location on the same visit, which usually works out cheaper than booking separately. Add the number of people in your message and we'll quote you directly.
Yes. Our examiners are trained in P300 EEG protocols, BrainBit hardware operation, question construction and statistical scoring methodology. All sessions follow a standardised process and all data is analysed at our central head office, not on site, to keep results consistent and independent.
Yes. Everything is fully confidential. Your enquiry, case details and final report are only ever shared with you. We don't share data with third parties, we don't post case studies that could identify clients, and the report PDF is emailed only to the address you provide. Our examiners also arrive in plain clothes in unmarked vehicles.
Inconclusive results are rare with P300 EEG but they do occasionally happen — usually due to poor signal quality from movement during the test, or insufficient data on a specific question. If this happens, the report will state it clearly and we'll discuss options including a re-test at a reduced rate or rerunning specific questions.
We operate as a mobile service — our examiners come to you anywhere in the UK so there's no office visit needed. If you'd prefer a neutral location we can arrange a private meeting room at a hotel or serviced office near you, included in the standard price.
Yes — for ethical and legal reasons, the person being tested must know it's a lie detector test and must consent before we begin. We can't and won't carry out testing covertly. This protects everyone involved and is also what makes the result trustworthy if it's later used as evidence.
Of course. There's no obligation to book. Call us on 0161 524 5513 or email info@deceptiondetection.co.uk and we'll talk through your situation, answer any questions, and help you decide if testing is right for you. The initial conversation is free and completely confidential.
