The moment a private conversation comes back to you from someone who was never in the room, the ground shifts. You start to censor yourself in your own car, your own kitchen, your own office — and the not-knowing is exhausting. A professional sweep tells you, definitively, whether someone is listening.

We detect covert audio devices across the UK, coming to you and checking the vehicle or property properly. Bugs are designed to be invisible, which is exactly why a cheap detector or a phone app is not enough — finding them takes the right equipment and a trained physical search.

The Devices We Find

Covert listening devices come in several forms, and a proper sweep is built to catch all of them:

  • Radio-frequency transmitters. Classic bugs that broadcast audio to a nearby receiver — detectable by their signal when transmitting.
  • GSM bugs. Devices with a SIM card that call out over the mobile network, so the listener can be anywhere in the world. These transmit only when active, so timing and technique matter.
  • Voice-activated recorders. Devices that store audio to be retrieved later. They transmit nothing, so they are found by physical search, not by signal.
  • Devices hidden in everyday objects. Bugs concealed in chargers, plug adaptors, clocks, pens, smoke alarms and soft furnishings — the ordinary items no one looks at twice.

Why an app cannot do this

Apps that claim to detect bugs read the phone's own sensors and are unreliable in both directions — false alarms and, more dangerously, false all-clears. A dormant recorder emits no signal for an app to catch, and a GSM bug is silent until it is called. Professional radio-frequency detection combined with a methodical physical inspection is the only way to be confident, and it is exactly what we bring to you.

How We Sweep

We work through the vehicle or property methodically, combining electronic detection with a hands-on inspection of the places devices are actually hidden. In a car that means the interior, the OBD area, and the objects left inside; in a home or office it means sockets, chargers, alarms, fittings and furnishings, room by room. We check for transmitting devices by signal and locate dormant recorders and concealed units by hand.

If we find a device, we show it to you and advise on the right next step. Where it relates to stalking or an abusive relationship, that means preserving it as evidence and involving the police rather than simply removing it — and we can document the find to support you. If we find nothing, you get that answer clearly, and the reassurance that comes with it.

Part of a Bigger Picture?

If you are worried about being tracked, you may also want to know what someone is really doing, or verify what they are telling you. We also offer full private investigation and specialist EEG lie detection.

What to Do If You Think You Are Being Listened To

If you suspect a device but have not yet had a sweep, a little care protects you. The instinct to search frantically, or to say out loud that you think you are bugged, is understandable — but if a device is there, it tells whoever placed it that you know, and they may simply remove it before it can be found or documented. Keeping normal is the stronger position.

Practically, that means not discussing your suspicion in the space you are worried about — have that conversation elsewhere, or in writing away from the room. Avoid tearing objects apart looking for a bug, which can damage evidence and tip your hand. And arrange the sweep discreetly, at a time when the person you are concerned about will not know it is happening. We will talk all of this through when you contact us, and plan the sweep so it stays invisible — that discretion is often as valuable as the detection itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most about listening devices.

Often you cannot, by design — modern bugs are small and hidden. The usual trigger is that someone knows things they should only know from a private conversation. A professional sweep combines radio-frequency detection with a physical inspection to locate transmitting bugs, GSM devices and dormant recorders that no app can reliably find.

No, not reliably. Apps that claim to find bugs typically read the phone's own sensors and produce false results in both directions. A concealed audio bug — especially a GSM device that only transmits when called, or a recorder storing audio to play back later — needs professional equipment and a trained physical search to find.

Radio-frequency transmitters, GSM bugs that call out over the mobile network, voice-activated recorders that store audio, and devices concealed in everyday objects such as chargers, adaptors, clocks and smoke alarms. We detect transmitting devices by signal and find dormant ones by hand.

A mobile vehicle sweep starts from £399; home and room sweeps start from around £499 and are quoted by size. Every price is confirmed before we begin. Email us where you want swept for a clear quote.

Yes, entirely. Checking your own car, home or office is lawful. It is someone recording you covertly without consent that may be unlawful — which is exactly what a sweep is designed to uncover.

We show it to you. Where it relates to stalking or an abusive relationship, we advise preserving it as evidence and involving the police rather than removing it, and we can document the find to support you.

A vehicle sweep is typically one to two hours; a home or office depends on size. We agree the scope and a fixed price before starting.
